Harry Reid Nukes Mitch McConnell
.........................................................................................................
November 22, 2013 Print Friendly

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) used the "nuclear option" yesterday to eliminate the free and open debate of judicial nominations.

Harry Reid did this because he knows Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will let him get away with it.

The only way to deter a nuclear attack is to make it clear that the response will be equally devastating. Unfortunately, weakness is the only message Mitch McConnell has sent the Democrats on this issue.

He's been so ineffective that even his allies in the mainstream media are mocking him with political cartoons like the one shown here from Politico.

Please sign the petition to retire Mitch McConnell.

This is the fourth time Mitch McConnell has allowed Harry Reid to chip away at the freedom to debate in the Senate.

In 2011, Harry Reid used the threat of the "nuclear option" to prevent senators from forcing the public reading of legislation. Mitch McConnell supported the change while conservatives like Jim DeMint (R-SC) opposed it.

In January of this year, Harry Reid used the threat of the "nuclear option" again to shorten debate on legislation and to limit the number of amendments that can be offered by senators. Mitch McConnell supported this change too while conservatives like Ted Cruz (R-TX) opposed it.

Then in July, Harry Reid used the threat of the "nuclear option" a third time to confirm President Obama's radical nominees. Mitch McConnell backed down yet again, allowing every single nominee through, including Richard Cordray for the new Dodd-Frank agency, Gina McCarthy to head the EPA, Tom Perez as Secretary of Labor, two people of Obama's choosing to fill the vacant slots at the National Labor Relations Board, and Todd Jones to head ATF even though he was at the scene of the "Fast and Furious" scandal.

Take a stand and sign the "Retire Mitch" petition today.

Each time Mitch McConnell capitulated, he said it would save the filibuster, but each time it encouraged Harry Reid to go even further. Now radical judicial nominees will sail through on a simple majority vote.

When asked by reporters yesterday what he would do to respond, Mitch McConnell said it wasn't time for "reprisal" but instead time to "be sad."

That's it? Republicans are just sad? If the roles were reversed, Harry Reid and the Democrats would have shut down the Senate by blocking all legislation and by objecting to all procedural requests.

Mitch McConnell must be replaced by conservative Matt Bevin in Kentucky's May 20 Republican primary election.

We need leaders in Washington who have the courage to fight for our principles and to defend our freedoms.

Matt Bevin is not only a courageous conservative, he's also a more compelling candidate with a better chance of defeating the Democrat in this race.

Mitch McConnell knows how to play hard ball, but he only does it against conservatives. When it comes to dealing with liberals, he capitulates. He's helped them pass bailouts, debt limit increases, tax hikes, and funding for Obamacare.

If we want to change the leadership in Washington, we need to help Matt Bevin replace Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.

Please sign the "Retire Mitch" petition and donate to Matt Bevin's campaign.

With your help, we can change the Senate next year.

Zimmerman's Girlfriend set him up
..........................................................................................................................
by William A. Jacobson Friday, November 22, 2013

Almost as soon as George Zimmerman was arrested, a report surfaced that girlfriend Samantha Scheibe, who made the dramatic phone call to 911, had been shopping her story to national media for several weeks – but no one would pay her what she wanted.

The Orlando Sentinel confirmed that at least one national media outlet (unnamed) had such communications:

WKMG’s report that the women were seeking money for interviews with national news organizations was confirmed to the Sentinel by one such organization.

Not unexpectedly, the Zimmerman defense team is letting it be known that this was a set-up, via TMZ:

George Zimmerman was duped and done in by a lying GF who faked a pregnancy to keep him around and then framed him when she realized he was leaving her … sources connected with Zimmerman tell TMZ.

George is now facing felony domestic violence charges after Samantha Scheibe claimed he threatened her with a gun and forced her out of their house.

Our Zimmerman sources say … here’s how it really went down:

Early this month, George made it clear to Samantha he was leaving her and leaving Florida. Samantha then dropped a bombshell– that she was 6 weeks pregnant. George now believes she was lying about it in order to keep him in her grip.

George then offered to make a child custody and support deal … but Samantha wanted him.

On Monday … things came to a head when George was packing his bags to leave and our sources say Samantha concocted the whole gun scenario as revenge.

Meanwhile, Shellie Zimmerman, who served divorce papers on George at the county jail during his recent arrest, is telling news media that George has unraveled since the trial.

Although Mark O’Mara is not representing George anymore, he expressed concern as to what it must be like to be such a hated man, constantly in hiding and fearing for his safety:

George Zimmerman’s former attorney Mark O’Mara responded to the arrest for the first time Thursday night.

During a nationally televised interview on CNN, O’Mara described Zimmerman as “peaceful” and “mellow” before being arrested for the murder of Trayvon Martin.

“He was turned into one of the most hated men in America for having to defend his life," O’Mara said.

The man democrats fear the most is already under attack by Obama

Barack Obama has lamented that he is not a dictator- several times:

King: “My cabinet has been working very hard on trying to get it done, but ultimately, I think somebody said the other day, I am president, I am not king,” Obama told Univision in October 2010, when asked why he had yet to achieve comprehensive immigration reform. “I can’t do these things just by myself.” He reiterated that sentiment in a February 2013 interview with Telemundo. “I’m not a king,” he said. President of China: “Mr. Obama has told people that it would be so much easier to be the president of China,” the New York Times reported in March 2011.

Emperor of the United States: “This is something I’ve struggled with throughout my presidency,” Obama said during a Google hangout event in February. “The problem is that I’m the president of the United States, I’m not the emperor of the United States. My job is to execute laws that are passed.”

"My job is to execute laws that are passed"? If you'll forgive me, bulls**t.

Want to see and hear another hysterically huge lie?

With each day this regime edges closer and closer to totalitarianism. Barack Obama lies constantly and with fluidity without fear of accountability. He unilaterally rewrites history and rewrites existing laws. He drops slam dunk prosecutions and refuses to pursue those who commit Obamacare fraud. Convicted felons can become Obamacare navigators as becoming an Obamacare navigator requires no background check and virtually anyone working with these navigators is ripe for identity theft. Apparently any sort of scum and villainy can become Obamacare navigators. He jailed a video maker for the attacks in Benghazi. Harry Harry Reid just cleared the way for Obama to rule via regulation. Obama has a past history of making sealed records public in order to impair opponents. He cooked the census books and used the IRS to suppress conservatives to win the 2012 election. The Obama regime spies on and intimidates reporters.

James Taranto:

When we first heard Obama's "I am not a dictator," as we noted Friday, it reminded us of Nixon's "I am not a crook." But on further reflection, Clinton's "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" is a more apt comparison. Of course Obama is not attempting to cover up wrongful behavior, but he did answer Yellin's question in a weirdly literal way that was both a deflection and a revelation. It's true, of course, that Obama isn't a dictator. He also seems to point that out a lot, as National Review's Andrew Stiles observes. Last month, for example, he noted that "I'm the president of the United States, I'm not the emperor of the United States" and called this a "problem" that he has "struggled with throughout my presidency."

It seems Obama wishes he had dictatorial powers. He probably enjoyed that little fantasy of having the Secret Service take his adversaries prisoner.

Obama is such a low life that he lied about his mother's death and her experience with insurance companies to further his agenda and get elected.

Democrats want Obama to rule via Executive Order:

In an interview last night with NY1, the congressman praised Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s decision to push through the so-called “nuclear option” to end filibusters on most presidential nominees. But he lamented the fact the work-around could not be used for legislation, suggesting the president turn to the executive orders–like the kind used to end the deportation many people who’d entered the country illegally as children.
If Obama and democrats don't like a law, they simply ignore it. Obama's delays of the ACA are probably illegal, as is his "fix."

This is a good backdrop to help understand that the blatant disregard democrats have for the Constitution and the law is most certainly going to continue in the future, and that includes elections. The next two elections- 2014 and 2016- are the most critical elections in history. It is no exaggeration to say that future of the United States as a functional democratic republic hinges on it. Hillary Clinton is the next presumed novelty candidate. There is one man who represents the single greatest risk to Hillary Clinton in her Sherman's March to the White House.

Scott Walker.

Scott Walker is a very capable politician. Nick Schulz:

While the clash over collective bargaining garnered national attention, Walker has additional accomplishments to highlight. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which opposed Walker's collective bargaining reforms, recently noted, "The governor did balance the budget … he did reduce the structural deficit significantly; he did put a lid on property tax increases; he did give schools and municipalities more control over their budgets than they've had in years." What's more, the reforms pushed by Walker are themselves already having a beneficial effect. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was Walker's opponent in the 2010 election and later attacked his proposals to reform collective bargaining. But with the reforms on the books, Barrett used some of the bill's provisions to help reduce the city's health care bill, saying that the alternative was to cut 300 to 400 city jobs.

Roger Kimball:

Governor Walker was extremely impressive, both in the substance of what he said and the style with which he said it. As for the substance, I'll simply mention that Wisconsin, thanks to Governor Walker, is the only state whose pension plan is 100% funded. Its neighbor Illinois, by contrast, faces the terrifying prospect of a state pension plan that is some 43% funded. Where's the money going to come from?

When Governor Walker assumed office, he faced horrendous deficits, but he declined to raise taxes. Illinois, by contrast, raised personal income taxes by 67% and business taxes by 46%.

Fat lot of good it did them. Business and high net-worth individuals are fleeing the state to more welcoming venues, like Wisconsin.

Governor Walker’s chief accomplishment, though — the great thing he did for the state and the thing that drove the Left nationwide into a frenzy of rage — was facing down the public-sector unions. By now, it is obvious to all who have eyes to see that by so doing, Governor Walker did a big favor not only to the ordinary residents and taxpayers of Wisconsin but also to the unions themselves. Had he not instituted his reforms, many, many union jobs would have been lost.

Scott Walker appeared on Morning Joe several days ago. Watch how well he parries the challenges, especially those from the weaselly Steven Rattner.
