Respond to of 4326 Thanks Don, TED worked. In one of his sequences, he showed a glacier with dates on it going back to 1851, which confirmed the same thing as the Fox glacier retreat I gave you. As you know, CO2 emissions in 1851 were trivial. People used horses around the world, or walked. The oil and coal industries were insignificant. The ice was retreating already, way back then, as he showed. So to blame that process on something that happened AFTER the retreat had been underway is odd. CO2 emissions could have added to the retreat process, but it was obviously not the primary cause, which was the end of The Little Ice Age which had lasted for a couple of hundred years. Genghis Khan and descendants had a great time rampaging across Asia during 1200 onwards, until it got really cold up north. The Little Ice Age put paid to their success and put the kibosh on England and the north of Europe too. <We need to get started now to keep it beautiful and livable for our future generations though and smart guys such as you need become converts quickly. > I was an environmentalist decades before most of the wet behind the ears newbies were born. That doesn't mean I believe any wacky thing that somebody like Al Gore comes up with. I have kept an eye on CO2 and The Greenhouse Effect for 30 years now, and my 1987 theory on climate seems to be a better match for what happens than the garbage in = garbage out computer models of the official Global Alarmists. My "model" included clouds, snow cover, chlorophyl cover way back then. CO2's main impact in my theory is its effect on plant growth and hydration requirements. The effect of the CO2 increase on plants is very large since the concentration has gone from 280 parts per million to 400 parts per million. That's a big deal. I have no reason to back one side or the other of the CO2 Alarmist/Denialist debate other than what makes sense. If I thought CO2 was a problem, I'd be happy to adopt that position. I'm not put off by people like Landshark and swarms of them who are unable to debate ideas sensibly. But "converting" requires reasoning. 1.....The natural state of the world is currently ICE AGE. 2.....That's a bad state of affairs for humans since a lot of the land mass is way up north with reglaciation a terrible thing for those in northerly latitudes [and southerly]. So avoiding glaciation is good. 3.....Earth is not in balance, contrary to the Alarmist founding premise. 4.....CO2 is a good thing for plants, which are good for us [and animals generally] 5.....CO2 levels are near homeopathic levels and were MUCH higher for most of history. 6.....Global temperature has barely moved over 100 years. 7.....Sea levels have increased at a low rate since the end of the Little Ice Age 8.....A very gradual sea level rise is insignificant. A rapid one [tsunami] which WILL happen is calamitous. 9.....Storms have NOT increased, because sea temperatures have not. Neither have air temperatures. 10....Where's the problem? 150 years of observation of reality and no problem. 11....Reality is the determinant of science, not computer models. GIGO. 12....It's time for a nice cup of tea. 13....Why convert? Mqurice
