Carolyn:

Here's what I would recommend - download an email program where you can transfer Outlook contacts and files so you will have them preserved. I am not a fan of gmail, but I use lt as my backup email client. You should be able to transfer contacts and files to gmail. Then work on fixing Outlook which is doable, but may require some tinkering including a repair reinstall or a complete reinstall. A reinstall should retain all of your contacts and files, but if you are concerned at least you will have them in another program.

Note: If the manual fix of Solve Microsoft Outlook Bex Problem error is too complicated for you you may also try Download the automatic repair tool instead.

The instructions are even more confusing! I click on Live Mail, it opens. I type in Contacts, and Options include Outlook, Microsoft Outlook and other stuff. Then I click on Outlook and Set up a new email account in Outlook opens.
