Corel Corp. Standardizes on Symantec Visual Cafe for Java
Corel to Use Next Generation Symantec Visual Cafe for Java Tools as Primary
Java Development Environment
CUPERTINO, Calif., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Symantec Corporation
(Nasdaq: SYMC) the leading provider of Java development environments today
announced that Corel Corporation (Nasdaq: COSFF), a leader in advanced Java
technology and development, has standardized on Visual Cafe for Java as their
primary development environment for their Java development.
By taking advantage of Symantec Visual Cafe for Java's award-winning, next
generation Rapid Application Development (RAD) environment, Corel's developers
will be able to finish their development projects in record time. Visual Cafe
for Java provides integrated project management, source and visual editors,
component libraries, incremental debugging and other tools, all with support
for latest standards such as JDK 1.1 and JavaBeans. Addressing a wide range of
development needs from easy to use, drag and drop visual form design to
integrated support for third party version control systems, the Visual Cafe
for Java product family is designed to meet the needs of both entry level and
professional developers.
"Symantec was the clear leader in our evaluation of Java development
environments. Our testing has shown that Symantec's market dominant position
is well justified and their proven track record of support for Java
technologies and tools give us confidence moving forward," said Dr. Michael
Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of Corel Corporation. "After
extensive evaluation and testing of competing products, we selected Symantec's
Visual Cafe for Java as the foundation of our development efforts."
Corel's Java technologies include a project code named "Remagen" which
allows Corel(R) WordPerfect(R) Suite or other business software to be run from
a central server and accessed via a Java client.
