Throwing my one cent into the fray (the other cent went to uncle sammy): This entire industry (oil) was started by wildcatters, who went with a "gut" feeling that oil might be sitting in HumbleTx or various other places. Since that time, technology has refined the predictive capabilities of the people and companies that followed in their path. It seems rather fitting that this thread gives us all a nice balance of the entire spectrum. Before I joined the thread, I didnt know a candle from a hammer (just ask my wife). I appreciate the education from all sides. A final note, while Mike S loves to espouse the seat of the pants philosophy, he is a throwback to those sly wildcatters who knew just a little bit more then they led on to everyone. Luckily in our case, Mike isn't negotiating land leases with us, he's sharing his knowledge. FWIW
