Bluetooth LE is very cool and will do incredibly well.... but it much more risky than NFC for financial transactions.
You say that as if it is fact. It is not. The only "reason" it might be is that the signal doesn't travel as far. That is only one factor. You can be hacked sticking your debit card at an ATM and it doesn't get any closer than that.

How about a credit card? These are stolen all of the time. Or, an unscrupulous worker can just take the numbers when you buy something.

How about considering the platform. NFC on Android? No thanks. You are asking for trouble.

Do you have an inside track on what Apple is doing with Bluetooth security? I think not.

Again, if they can get it to "reasonable" security, it is likely much more secure than many other ways we buy things today. And, the convenience of not having to wait in line or for merchants having to buy a bunch of new equipment makes it a slam dunk win for Bluetooth over NFC.

Have you noticed that PayPal is doing mobile payments with Bluetooth instead of NFC?
