Hi mindmeld; I'm under no illusion that the Fed runs its policy to help the 99%, but middle class people don't save money using bonds or cash any more than they save money using stocks. The traditional place where the American middle class saves its money is by owning a house. And by arranging for us to end up with heavy inflation, the Fed's actions can be construed as supporting homeowners. And that would be the 99%. It's the 1% that hold your mortgage, or own the companies that hold those mortgages. What the Fed is doing will (eventually) be very supportive of today's debtors, if they can stay afloat.
