Inflation does not cancel out Deflation!!
It's like saying if you get punched with a left hook, and punched with a right hook, that you don't move. Actually, you collapse to the floor.

It depends on what's inflating and what is deflating.

For example, today we may have wage inflation + price deflation. As company labor costs go up and they can't sell their products for any more money, their earnings will shrink, perhaps drastically.

That's what I see happening in the tech sector, at least.
