The flight of Greek intellectuals to Italy before & during the Fall of Constantinople to Mehmed's Ottomans was already covered here over a month ago if you were paying attention dumdum. As were other significant battles that changed history, including the fall of Baghdad to the Mongols 200yrs before , a blow to science & learning from which Islam never really recovered. That was because the orthodoxy and puritanical right wing (idiots like yourself) took rigid control & suffocated the institutions of discovery & science/philosophy that were the foundation of over four hundred years of the Golden Age of Islam.

The Abbasids & Umayyads of Baghdad and Spain between 750-1200 led states whose foundations were set on Prophet Mohammad's injunction that believed "Seek learning though it be in China." And strict implementation of Prophet's own words: "The ink of the scholar is more precious than the blood of the martyr." It is a recognized fact that the scientific and philosophical scholarship of the Greeks and Persians had been lost to the West but was introduced to European intellectual life via the Islamic world in Baghdad and Spain.

True & proper study of history isn't about playing your dimwit blame game & who was superior or closer to to some imaginary "gods", its about the transmission & preservation of ideas, inventions, discoveries and human cultural refinements, an evolution that links all men together in one giant sweep of time. Thats why we have the sciences of History, Archaeology & Cultural Anthropology, to study human evolution & the cultural evolution and understanding culture history.

And what did your post there just reveal to us about the Renaissance & Humanist movements of which there were Popes who also called themselves Humanists? As usual your posts dwell on some selected cherry picked negatives, contain little thats worthwhile, completely devoid of much/anything that could be termed useful information what so ever. You never let us down, with your 5c & 10c view of things do you? Do you just hang out here to pick your nose & fart, then force us to watch? Try thinking a little more...

From Dante to Petrarch and many others , then the Fall & sacking of Rome and that period of terrible decline, then transfer of the mantle of Humanism over to Erasmus & Thomas More who had a good deal of effect on German history & English history and your history.

But nice to see you trying, old goat, its alot bigger than you can imagine this total picture which must be comprehended fully that starts to change. Unless proper effort is made to understand historical events in their proper context the gap between civilizations cannot be filed, that evolution of bridges can only be made if efforts are made to understand the events that led to present confrontations between the radical extremists and the moderates of the world.
