jelrod3, it feels like mutual fund redemption is happening at this very moment. I sure hope that it isn't the case. If it is, then what you say will be true: 'When the big support players abandon ship and sell out, they won't be there to move the stock up when it bottoms, leaving it to languish at or near the bottom for a significant time period'
