Yes, look at the defense industry...

Most Conservative Activists Favor Some Kind of Defense Cuts

By Christopher Bedford

CHQ polling shows that Conservative activists are divided on the issue of how much defense spending should be subject to cuts, but 84% believe some kind of cuts are necessary, with 32% believing these cuts should be drastic.

Only 16% of those polled by CHQ believe the defense budget should be exempt from the large slashes necessary to balance the United States deficit. The majority of those polled –40%– would support spending cuts so long as they are equal to cuts made in domestic spending. The lowest vote count –12%– believe that cuts should be made but they must be minimal.

I think I see your argument. But your line of argument than is that each party sees government as a kind of grab bag of goodies--defense and defense industry for the Reps as an illustration, safety net as an illustration for Dems.

Perhaps that's where we differ. The Reps simply are not interested in governing. Governing entails reaching compromises with other political players so the machinery works. The Reps have made it as clear as possible they have no interest in the sorts of compromises that entails. It's there way or the proverbial highway.

"To throw Bush out is rewriting history"

Steve, WE'RE not "throwing Bush out". Conservatives threw Bush out, along with the RINO Republican party. That's why they call themselves "Tea Partiers" now. Even though they all voted for him, twice.

We want all Americans to REMEMBER George W. Bush, and the conservatives that elected him, no matter what they call themselves now.
