Mr. Gates will also learn that money does not always buy you your own way. MSFT is growing TOO powerful and that generally brings out a coalition to oppose it in the interest of fairness and competitive balance. Very true Ron, but that was before GLOBAL market competition and attacks on our economy from asian and south american markets, we have lost our production to child labor and lax polution and industry standards in other countries, Microsoft is one of the forces we have left that will let us command a LARGE growing sector of the world economy. There will be no 110/220 v problem, the world will adopt and standardize to our AMERICAN Microsoft or be left in the dust, true Micorsoft gobbles up weaker american companies and their technologies, but that is the price we must pay as a nation to take on new market forces like the emerging China, as a nation 250 million strong to be as powerful as we are in a 6 billion population world takes HUGE companies that can fight WORLD battles. Sun Netscape Apple simply do not have the power to fight off GLOBAL market competition like Microsoft does, why do you think the government allows them to be so powerful, it is in the best interests of our country. If we weaken them for the cause of the american company, we also weaken them against a growing outside attack from foriegn markets, no matter how much you hate Billy boy, would you rather you bought his software from his AMERICAN programmers, or bought some ASIAN software from some asian programmers, I believe in supporting my country myself, apparently you don't. You need to look at the BIG picture and realize we are in a much MORE competitve global economy and America does not enjoy the once WORLD DOMINANT economy it had for so many years, the rules are changing and we need POWER like Microsoft to keep our economy in balance with the other nations. Your tvs, computer chips, electronics, cars are all made in other nations, but THEY have to buy their software from America, your understanding of global power and world politics is pathetic.Microsoft has made many people close to our family mucho dinero over the past 10 years. However, when they stifle the innovation and competitive environment so necessary for technological progress, they CAN be referred to as EVIL, or at least sinister. <g> As I have said, some smaller american companies may have to be hurt for the good of our national economy, or would you rather see all the people that benefit from microsoft IE jobs and companies relating to them be in Asia? The issues are not as black and white as you seem to think they are, we are leaders in a field of growing power and we need to insure dominance to keep our place atop the pedestal. Save this 250 million nation will be overcome by the other 6 billion.I'm a big fan of Java's potential since it should reduce the costs of software and IT budgets, thus adding to the profit margin of using companies. I am glad you brought that up go here,pendragon-software.com Sun LIED, so they are not as innocent as you think and then go herependragon-software.com I also think Java will be good, and I am glad Microsoft is leading the way, as they often do, but you would have me belive SUN could protect americas interest agianst those foriegn competitors knocking at our door, you are wrong and they cannot. I speak from an even greater awareness than you might assume, I have seen the industry from the inside, I did my part at IBM and I am aware of who can protect our national interests and who cannot.
