WR, Ron Unz has it completely bass-ackwards.

He thinks raising the minimum wage to $12/hour will counteract the negative pressure on lower-class living standards created by illegal immigration. But his solution would arguably end up driving up demand for illegal immigrant labor because small businesses would not be able to afford the higher costs of legal labor.

I think California should set it's minimum wage at $50 per hour. That would eliminate poverty.
