"Class" ~~ Sarah Palin says she accepts Martin Bashir's apology December 5, 2013 Sarah Palin said Thursday that she is ready to "move on" following MSNBC host Martin Bashir's apology and resignation for offensive comments he made about the former Alaska governor. "My role was to accept his apology and be humble enough to accept it and move on," Palin said Thursday on Fox & Friends. The comments from the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee were her first about Bashir since he stepped down. Bashir had called her, among other things, a "world-class idiot," on an MSNBC broadcast last month. He had also suggested that Palin undergo an act of cruelty inflicted by a slave owner to punish slaves, as depicted in the diary of British landowner Thomas Thistlewood. Bashir announced Wednesday that he has resigned from the cable network. He had previously made an on-air apology and took some time off. In a statement e-mailed to Mediaite, Bashir said he hoped his departure would allow MSNBC "to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments." Palin, a contributor to Fox News, has frequently criticized what she calls the "lamestream media" for its news coverage. In her comments Thursday, she said it was "refreshing to see though that many in the media did come out and say, 'Look, our standards have got to be higher than this.'" usatoday.com
