With Compaq being downgraded by DLJ this morning and the further fact that everybody who has ever had a chance to buy DELL is probably already in the stock...many times the prudent position is to side step the stock. I fortunately got short DELL on a rebound off the 90 level at 90 13/16. Tech is currently dreck. Sure, DELL is a great company, makes a great product...I'm currently sending you this email on a DELL Latitude XPi 120 MHz machine I bought 3-4 years ago for $5k, I also just bought a P2 with 266MHz and 128 Mb RAM. But opinions about where the stock price is going is just that. Opinions lie, markets don't. I'm not saying that the sun is setting on DELL stock price performance. But as a short term player I'm just trying to play the trends (trend is your friend). I wish you good luck but until you see a base of a few days I would have a hard time telling any individuals that you just have to own DELL right here right now.

No disrespect intended. Just trying to offer some of my experience in the markets (17 years, ex-institutional equity salesman).

Bon Chance.
Jim

Mohan,

It sure is funny that when DELL is going up all the longs can make all the noise they want, and us bears usually keep quite! Let the bears have there day in the sun, for you will have yours again on bounces!

Here is some TA view point! As DELL was going up the past few days the volume was very low like there was no one selling and what buyers there were was pushing the stock higher due to lack of sellers! Now today we have been open for about 2 1/2 hours and DELL has traded more than 6.6 million shares which is heavier than this same time the last few days as DELL was going up! Tells me their is not much strenght in DELL or any other high tech stock! Very happy I'm short, the only thing that I'm not too happy about is it looks like I will not get to short anymore at the $90 or $95 level where my naked calls are sold on!

steve, my naked calls are working again, hope I can write a book someday! To tell you the truth I would not spend the time to write the book if I do continue to make money the way I've been trading the past 6 years!

Hank
