MSNBC political an analyst Jonathan Alter played the liberal caricature by actually suggesting that, in light of former South African President Nelson Mandela's passing, Americans should practice "forgiveness" toward "hundreds of thousands of people" who are serving life prison sentences. He's got it all backwards - the South African government did not let Mandela go out of compassion or forgiveness - Mandela was the one who forgave his captors and renounced violence. What a complete moron.
