Carl, let's not forget throughout history, people who have come to power, usually have their own rent-a-mob, band of useful idiots if you will. Look at the hate of masses Obama can stir up and send to peoples' houses and threaten their families over a few WallStreet bonuses. I wouldn't sell the left short in their resources though I know what you speak of. I think long term, the only hope the left has is their current pursuit of having the US being ruled by UN forces.

After Germany invaded them that last 30 days before they surrendered, the fastest France had ever lost a war "And there's a fairly popular fiction book series on the war between left and right by Orson Scott Card. Here's the first in the series. It's fairly entertaining reading. (He wrote the book that got turned into the movie "Ender's Game", by the way, and is a Mormon): read the first 2-3 books years ago. just finish 'ender's shadow' and i'm now reading 'shadow of the giant'
