Those are "ifs' and the Dems use those as scare tactics to get what they want. More than likely, those other businesses would have contracted and found better sources of revenue. Ford would have found leverage in driving a better bargain with their suppliers, because they would have been the last major man standing. In addition, better car companies with more advanced technology, like Tesla, would have found a much larger customer base to sell into without having to compete against a government subsidized GM. Free markets work. The nanny state ALWAYS fucks things up beyond all recognition. Free markets ALWAYS benefit poor people far more over the long run than well-meaning, but terrible business managers found in governments, who always are spending other people's money without regard to making a profit. You hate profit seeking so much, but it is the greatest wealth and jobs creator in the history of this planet.
