Proud confessions: I trade food stamps ‘for beer, vodka and cigarettes’
December 10, 2013 by Tom Tillison 0 Comments
Referring to Key West, Florida as “the end of the U.S.A in more ways than one, Fox News’ host Bill O’Reilly sent correspondent Jesse Watters to the “notorious outlaw town” for the latest segment of “Watters’ World.”

Watters spoke with a number of interesting locals to find out more about the “laid back” lifestyle of Key West.

In doing so, he came across an individual who had no qualms about having taxpayers pay for his vices.

When an unidentified man was asked if he was on food stamps, he matter-of-factually said he traded his food stamps for alcohol and cigarettes.

“Yes,” he answered. “I trade the stamps for beer and vodka, and cigarettes.” When Watters reminded him that he was supposed to use them for food, he responded, “right.”

With the government spending roughly $70 billion annually on food stamps benefits, and fraud estimated to reach hundreds of millions of dollars, this cavalier approach may not be such a laughing matter.
