Energy Weekly: Libyan return disappoints and Sudanese violence escalates
Agencies raise oil demand outlook, but ‘14 balances remain weak
16 December 2013 ¦ 13 pages ir.citi.com

Supply disruptions have underpinned oil through 2013, and the year is ending in
familiar fashion. Oil prices fell last week but rebounded on Monday after Libyan
ports failed to reopen over the weekend, keeping exports at around 100-k b/d.
Citi remains pessimistic on the prospect of Libyan exports returning in size any
time soon. Furthermore, rising violence in Juba, the capital of South Sudan,
could potentially impact crude production, which has recovered to ~250-k b/d
since restarting in April.
