Sort of humorous given that almost every state now has a lottery which preys on the poorest among us (with those earning less than 15,000 spending 9% of their income on lottery tickets). And the next Megamillions jackpot at 550 Million, with single-ticket odds of hitting it about 1 in a quarter billion.

It seems the poor have a pretty big interest in moving toward the Walton Family status.

and as much as the bottom 42% of the population.

A meaningless stat. I'm very far from rich (at least by American standards, compared to the world average my income looks much nicer), and I gave a larger financial net worth as 25% of the American population.

That's because 25% of Americans have zero or negative net assets. It doesn't have to be poor people, a doctor still paying off med school could easily be in that 25%, as could anyone who bought a house at the market peak and is now underwater, even if they have a high income and can easily make the mortgage payment.

Fully 25% of the population is living on less than $18,000 a year.

I'm sure that people living in 3rd world shit holes and trying to survive on less than a dollar a day would feel a lot of sympathy for that..

In the meantime the Waltons have 145 billion dollars

So what? If it wasn't for WalMart offering low prices, the poor, who you seem to care so much about, would be spending more of their money for the same products elsewhere..

Society should be calling bullshit

And just who is "society"? You, and the rest of the "something for nothings"?

making the rich pay their fair share

Rich is not monolithic. Some get rich by earning their wealth, some inherit it, some marry it (like that gigolo, Kerry), some steal it, including crony capitalists who run to the government (taxpayers) for handouts, subsidies, and mandates to stifle their competition..

maintaining a healthy tribe

You want to live in a tribe, then move to the jungle somewhere.

We are 65th in income inequality

You want inequality, check out the Peoples State of North Korea, a socialist paradise where a few at the top live like royalty and the rest try their best not to starve to death. And where complaining will get you a bullet in the head..

You need to learn what is good for you, your society and your kids

What's good is what made the USA the best country in the history of the world, and that's freedom, in all of its manifestations. The freedom that's being strangled by the ever expanding behemoth of government run wild..

It won't end well, "for you, your society and your kids".. Count on it. And the clock is ticking....

Liberals are very selective in which rich people they castigate. They never rag on Buffet, Gates, the Google/Facebook/Apple billionaires. People like Steve Jobs are heroes even if their products are made in Chinese sweat shops.
