Nest is getting a premium $ on its thermostat cos its first to market - but this will be a $40.00 device in 2 years - ...Nest needs to be developing a home network (platform) with a portal to the web bristling with smart devices. All devices in the home will talk with the portal (platform)- and alerts and consolidated data sent to the web for user access via mobile devices etc. The thermostat is essentially an off off switch with some if then logic.... Nest should be all over this with light modules, intrusion alarm sensors, etc. etc.... they need to be pumping this out fast and furious to get a foothold. The big boys are coming with a ton of small smart tech. - mostly based on wi-fi and bluetooth le.
