Strangely, you may end up being one of the "better-offs" -- after all, you have insurance (if you get your card...)

A very large number of people have moved from insured to uninsured in the last 2.5 months through absolutely no fault of their own. It is terrifying to me; I remember times when we were a young couple with kids when we could not pay our mortgage but would damned well pay for our health insurance, and I would have been totally fearful of not having coverage. Now, all these people who have done everything right being cut off at the knees.

Just got this from my B-I-L today

Just got the hard numbers to compare my current healthcare with ?Obamacare. My company funded health insurance premium is about $3000/yr with a $500 family deductible. If I had to sign up for Obamacare I would have to pay about $8700 (after subsidies on the Silver plan) with $6000 family deductible. Premiums up 287%, deductible up 1200%!!! My current health plan is much better than the govt.-offered Silver plan. This would be completely unaffordable for us. We would just have to go without insurance if this is the cost we would have to pay.

Apparently, he's hearing his company may be cutting back on insurance next year. They're worried.
