Getting older is big-time weird. When I was four (approx?) I pondered the amazing fact that my identity was continuous (that I didn't, like, swap back and forth with my sisters or stuff). And to this day that same cosmic toddler looks out of these wrinkled eyesockets and marvels at the continuity of consciousness. And begins to lament the fact that it ain't gonna last forever.
I look at Wife's swollen abdomen and feel a sense of Continuity realized.
Your "words of advice" are very cool.
And I don't think you'll need to be jealous for long. Perhaps in a few years you'll get to the next Big Payoff. Grandkids.

"One can measure the true greatness of the artist not by his ability to paint a picture
of an old woman...but...to paint a picture of the young woman who is trapped in the
old woman's body" (this is not exact..but you get the drift)."

This is an incredibly beautiful image, T.R. Thanks a lot for sharing it.

I agree with you about parenting, incidentally. I read a lot of books when I was orienting myself to the process, and deciding what philosophy of nurturing made the most sense to me, but once you get your sea legs, or sense of direction, if you are loving and concerned and spend a lot of time with your children, you will be a great parent.

Alex is very thoughtful and considerate and conscientious, and, agreeing with you, I have always thought he would make a great parent. Of course, if he has little technical questions, there are a lot of experienced men and women here who would love to share their opinions with him.

You sound like a wonderful father yourself. I, too, am excitedly waiting for grandchildren, but I cannot hint too obviously or anything, because my daughter is only fourteen at the moment!!! It sounds like they will be coming more quickly for you, and you are lucky!!!!!
