I try not to split them, but there are times when it sounds too forced not to split one (Yes, I almost wrote "to not split. . .). I can't think of an example right now, but, I have tried to correct some in my mind and I begrudgingly admit it seems better split. Whenever I see the opening of the Star Trek program, I always say out loud (if I'm alone, of course), over Kirk's or Picard's voice, ". . .to go boldly. . . " <g>
