Mark -

CNBC had a guest this AM - who's name escapes me now - who flat out said "It's over for the techs."

I guess this means that Intel will never sell another chip, Dell will never sell another PC, WDC will never sell another drive, etc.

If that's true, then who's gonna buy semi equipment? So the logical value of all these stocks is someplace around zero.

Seems like a silly premise to me - but then again, I'm not an "expert".

Regards -

Tom

What I am hearing is that several mutual fund managers dump ESIO
stocks ( along with all the other semi equipment ). I expect backlog
to go down for the next several quarters. What may be surprising
is the strong demand in Europe. The 5100 laser drillers are in bid demands. The European techs are doing
really good. Did you see how bullish Siemen is? Siemen is the
one of the Largest customer of ESIO. You are right about this market.
ESION will probably get hit when the rest of the pack release their
earnings in Jan. I was just reviewing the ZACKS estimate for ESIO.
I have noticed that there are no changes in earning estimates. One
new HOLD recommendation in the last week. In order for ESIO to
meets those earing estimate, I feel that ESIO will have to make
at least another major acquisition in 1998......very possible.

Later.
