UMG selects Tellabs Cablespan 2300 telephone distribution system to offer phone service on Media 1. Folks: this means the war has officially begun. RBOCs will have to offer xdsl services to the same customers or they will lose their local phone business. I think the market for DSL for next 2-3 years is indeed vast. Note that phone on cable is already available in UK from a UMG consortium. The stuff works and is a real threat to RBOCs. 20 / .85 = 23.5 1998 consensus. This is cheap.
