Ronald Reagan dedicates the Space Shuttle Columbia to the Taliban That's not a very accurate description of what he said. "People of Afghanistan" != "the armed resistance to the Soviets" "The armed resistance to the Soviets" != "The Taliban. The Taliban wasn't even active until the 90s. As for the economy, coming out of the early 80s recession, continuing through the 90s, it was healthier then it otherwise would have been, because of the tax cuts and deregulation under Reagan.
