Yes, I agree and it was the point I was trying to make. Looking back at America - we may be considered some day to have been barbaric. I think there is a case to be made there. AND, we are pretty educated. But here is the original comment of yours I was commenting to; There was no time in history, ever, when women had equality with men and were not subjugated until their societies became educated.

The Viking society was not educated in the sense you are describing and yet they treated their women as equals - in some cases they were esteemed to have more rights than men. They could divorce their men and if they did, the man lost the rights to property. They could BTW, divorce them without reason. Soooooooo, in some ways they treated their women better then than we do today in America.
