DChapman and Mohan...
Fear and greed drive these markets and always have, right? Then comes anger or happiness, jubilation or depression. Road rage may fall in there somewhere. <g>. I hope we all get the point.

Blue chip issues such as INTC don't fall by the wayside overnight nor they in months or in a year or two. I think it would take a Gate's like onslaught by the mightiest of the mighty. There are none. Mr. Grove and associates have performed in their position remarkably well to build the company to it's 85% market dominance as well as to guard against such onslaughts happening in the near or distant future. I think we would all have ample notice. No?

Would'nt it be nice to know who really thought of the circut breaker on the DOW? Or what group or consortium so graciously agreed?

I don't see markets in the Eastern Hemisphere having this everlasting power on US markets as we are hearing of lately. The shorts could take that chance but 'emptor beware' and 'emptor beware' again! I recall seeing in print and hearing in the last 2 weeks where 80% of the DOWS best days in it's history have occured in 1997.

Intel or any other issue for that matter...I'll let the prior that I mentioned at the top of this post guide me long. Longer than expected as US markets stabilize and IMO: gain strength while emerging markets and financially sound companies in Europe and the East jockey for position and dominance with US companies in IT (information technology).

"All American companies that provide high- tech products and also capital equipment for the Asianeconomic miracle are going to be hurt because there's an adjustment process that has to be gone through in Asia," said Roger Kubarych, an economist at Kaufman & Kubarych. "It's going to take two to three years, and in the meantime they're going to see lower sales in Asia."
