"Nixon / Carter" ???
no such administration . . . there were three different Presidents in the 1970s:
Nixon (R until '74) then Ford (R until '77) then Carter (D until '81) . . . then Reagan from 1981 until 1989.
Oil was under $10 until 1975.
In October-1973, Eqypt and Syria attacked Israel ... causing oil to double in price from $5 to $10 by 1975.
The Palestinians escalated attacks on Israel over the next 6-years after 1975 . . the "peace" that Carter made was just with Egypt.
The region has been under conflict ever since . . with only small periods of "peace".
Oil prices kept rising over this time period . . . until 1981 when prices went lower from $37 to $14 in 1988.
Those are the facts . . not just my biased "recalled opinions".
