Koan, Wharf Rat and I all thank you for making those SS payments Ten, that all get transferred directly to US. Again, THANKS, and keep earning the big bucks! Koan and Wharf Rat both have kids that will be paying YOURS.

What month of the year do you exceed the cap and quit paying in?

Boy, you really just don't get it! Let me break it down so it is real simple as to the goal:

1) Social security brought millions of old women and men out of horrible poverty. Yes, they were and are dependent. They were old and most probably crippled to some degree. Many probably couldn't work any longer.

2) People pay into the program to a large degree their entire lives. But it is not quite enough, so society says we have decided the rich can afford to pay some more to make SS solvent. There is no reason why it has to have a 100% connection. So lift the cap and it is good for 75 years.

3) This allows for a much healthier society and makes for a more humane society. Are the rich hurt more than the old helped? I doubt it. And trying to get work out of a 70 year old person who usually doesn't feel all that well is nuts.

What would you prefer? Go back to a time where we had pervasive abject poverty rather than make the rich pay a bit more. Well, you greedy folks have almost gotten your way.

You not only lack compassion, you lack common sense.

You ever heard of a guy named Scrooge?

Good lord. Mankind had to fight your kind forever to establish civilization.

Koan,
Raise the cap and it is good for 75 years.
"Brilliant. Separate the loose connection between payments into the system and benefits coming out of it. All to continue feeding the growth in the latter.

Ignore what I just argued, that the growth in SS proves that it is creating more dependents. Then propose a "solution" to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place, if SS was supposed to be a true "safety net" program.

Ten

Kim Jong-un: North Korean leader 'was very drunk' when ordering executions

independent.co.uk

The North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was "very drunk" when he ordered the recent execution of two aides close to his uncle Jang Song-thaek, reports say.

According to the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, the pair questioned an order from the dictator to hand over control of a business to the military. Sources told the newspaper Kim was "upset" when they said they needed to check with "Director Jang" first.

The leader's uncle, who was removed from power and killed as part of a recent high-profile purge, was head of the ruling Workers' Party administrative department.

His close aides, first deputy director Ri Ryong-ha and another deputy Jang Su-gil, were among the first prominent figures to be executed in late November.

According the Yomiuri’s source, Kim was "very drunk" when he ordered they be killed.
