The BEARX shorts are showing a profit of about 2.93% for the day, if my figures are working right. There are some wonderful individual declines.

Off-topic to Joe:

RV Tauri and Z Camelopardalis. Also some long-term variables. All this can be done much more accurately and quickly now with small computer-slewed scopes and photometers. I haven't read any theory for over ten years and probably anything I remember is superseded. But it used to be kind of exciting to catch an exploding binary on an upswing. And there was a time when a semiorganized corps of observers were important in making these brightness estimates. Afraid I have even let my membership in the AAVSO, American Association of Vairable Star Observes, lapse and don't know if they are still useful to anyone.
