No one is begging for anything to fail.

But when the failure is inevitable and likely to have devastating consequences for the public, it is worth considering that a rapid failure is preferable to one which requires years or decades.

Medicare is a perfect example. Its failure isn't imminent, yet, it is inevitable. The longer it hangs on the greater will be the damage when it finally collapses. While it will be tremendously painful whenever it happens, thoughtful people realize that we (future generations) would be better off if it went ahead and collapsed. There is no fixing it; it is beyond the point of salvage, so the sooner, the better.

Obamacare is sort of the same but it will collapse for different reasons and something very rapid is highly desirable. Next week would be great.

Except that wishing for Obama's policies to fail is wishing for America to succeed.

For that matter if the Democrats often had the same ideas about the failure of Reagan's policies or those of either Bush (esp the 2nd). Not that they wanted America to fail either, but they thought the other guys ideas would bring about failure (at least a small and/or relative failure).
