A great variety of mystery religions were allowed to flourish in the Roman empire from every geographical area east of the Adriatic. All contributed to the "mystery group" typical cults of their own, this Jewish proselytizing cult called Christianity was just another one of these. What i said was completely accurate dum dum. We see the evolution from Imperial state religion interested in peace & stability, willing to grant god status to its just rulers, to mystery cults that deal with a personal redemption in the afterlife and the problem of death. The imperial cult promised a kingdom of God on earth and the national state religions granted an Elysian land to the favored few, these mystery cults like your own gave to the ordinary man that other prize, an assurance of immortality of soul and promise of a happy hereafter. For he that holds the keys to the kingdom of heaven, rules the world in the eyes of the infatuated, very Darwinian, as is the need for shared communion & communal ritual. What happened in Rome will happen again, welcome to the world.
