the televised presidential debate when Obama said to Mitt Romney that he l-o-v-e-d it when they called it "Obamacare."

I guess the Boob figured he would be memorialized for all eternity.... for his signature plan that is now considered the worst screw-up ever made by a sitting president.

Explosion Rocks Minneapolis Apartment Complex over Arab Grocery
.....................................................................................................................

January 1, 2014
thepunditpress.com

An explosion rocked an apartment building in Minneapolis, Minnesota today, injuring 13 people. The apartment, which was inhabited by single men, exploded this morning. The bitterly cold temperatures may have made the situation even worse:

Freutel called the blaze “a deep-seated fire” in dangerous conditions. Fire hoses freeze, and nozzles and hydrants also can freeze up while the water used to quell the blaze quickly turns to ice underfoot in the 4-below zero temperature. Firefighters were spreading salt on the street in front of the building to improve traction.

The explosion took place over a Halal grocery in a portion of the city dominated by Arab immigrants:

Ismail Adan, 34, has lived in the building since 2002 and left shortly before the fire. He said his mother had called him early in the morning and he left to visit her, but a cousin who was staying with him was in the third-floor apartment when the explosion occurred. He said the cousin leapt from the window and was injured but he has spoken with him in the hospital.

“He’s OK. It’s not very serious,” Adan said.

The apartment complex is next to a mosque and the owner of the building could not be contacted.

The building is managed by Wadani Properties of Minneapolis, which is owned by Garad Nor, according to Minneapolis and Secretary of State records. Attempts to reach Nor have not been successful.

Palestinian Diplomat in Prague Had Secret Arms Cache;

.....................................................................................
inn ^ | 1/2/14 | Ari Yashar

An illegal arms cache was found Thursday in the home of the Palestinian Authority (PA) ambassador to Prague, Jamal al-Jamal, who was killed there in an explosion the day before.

Initially the PA claimed his death was a "work accident," that occurred when he opened an old safe that had been untouched for 20 years. Apparently the safe was moved from an older embassy building to Al-Jamal's new apartment in the recently built PA embassy complex.

However, the PA later backtracked on its story, as a spokesman stated that the safe "was used on a daily basis at the embassy and it was opened and closed almost every day."

Czech police confirmed that arms, including heavy firearms, had been found at Al-Jamal's home; Czech newspaper Respekt added that the cache contained enough weapons to arm ten fighters.

Oakland officer's video after girl's death shown as evidence

The mother of an 8-year-old Oakland girl shot dead at a friend's sleepover sobbed in a courtroom Tuesday as a prosecutor introduced a remarkable piece of evidence - footage from a chest camera worn by one of the first police officers to arrive at the crime scene.

Chiquita Carradine had been out of town on July 17, when a gunman opened fire through the front door of the Dimond neighborhood apartment, killing her daughter, Alaysha Carradine, and injuring her playmate and two others.

The mother had been warned about the power of the video, but as a preliminary hearing began for two suspects in the case, she wasn't prepared. There were cries for help by the wounded children in the home, and Officer Jason Mitchell could be heard bellowing "Get out of my way!" as he rushed victims to an ambulance.

Another officer warned Mitchell not to move Alaysha, who was "soaked in blood," Mitchell testified at the hearing. The officer is heard on the video telling his partner, "I don't care."

"She was taking what appeared to be her last breaths of life," Mitchell testified. A former emergency medical technician, Mitchell said, "I knew that if I didn't get her to the hospital in two or three minutes, she wouldn't make it."

Chiquita Carradine cried and dabbed at her eyes with tissues as the hearing progressed. Deputy District Attorney John Brouhard had told her what to expect, but she insisted on sitting through most of the video and the testimony. Finally, she dashed out of court, her wails echoing outside.

"That was the most gruesome thing I have ever had to sit through, and be strong," she said later.

Oakland officers began wearing chest cameras in late 2010, part of a trend that has swept through the Bay Area and the nation. Prosecutors and defense attorneys said this marks one of the first high-profile murder cases in which such a video will play a prominent role.

When the preliminary hearing concludes, Alameda County Superior Court Judge C. Don Clay must decide whether to order a trial for Darnell Williams, 22, and Joseph Carroll, 27. Both are facing murder charges in the killing of Alaysha, whose nickname was "Ladybug."

Williams is accused of going to the Wilson Avenue apartment with a gun bent on hurting a man he believed was responsible for a slaying in Berkeley four hours earlier. According to prosecutors, Williams sought to kill not only his rival, but the rival's family, which had been hosting Alaysha.

The rival was Antiown York, 25, the father of Alaysha's playmate, according to Berkeley police. On Tuesday, they announced York's arrest in connection with the Berkeley killing.

Authorities say Carroll - the cousin of the man killed in Berkeley, 26-year-old Jermaine Davis - cased the Dimond neighborhood apartment two hours before the shooting.

Evidence at the scene suggested a wild fusillade, with some rounds passing through the wood door and metal security gate. Within seconds, Alaysha fell in a barrage that also injured her 7-year-old playmate, the playmate's 4-year-old brother and the siblings' 63-year-old grandmother Clara Fields.

Defense attorneys said outside court that the video - while not depicting an assailant - offered a portrait of the violence that night that would likely make a powerful statement to a jury.

"It makes an incredible impression," said Deborah Levy, an attorney for Williams. If Judge Clay determines there is enough evidence to go to trial, "It is the jury that's going to be viewing this evidence. Honestly, it's going to be devastating," Levy said.

Carroll's attorney, Ernesto Castillo, agreed, saying, "It definitely captures the moment live, but it's also tremendously prejudicial in a sense because of the emotional nature of it."

Still, Levy said, "Legally, I don't think there's any way to keep it out" as evidence.

Also testifying Tuesday was paramedic Julie Silva. She said that as Officer Mitchell rushed Alaysha to her, the girl cried, "Mommy, where's my mommy?"

Then, Silva said, as the ambulance neared Children's Hospital Oakland, the girl suddenly let out a "haunting scream at the top of her lungs - 'I'm dead!' "

That testimony prompted Chiquita Carradine to utter an expletive at Williams from the court gallery and say, "I hope you burn in hell."

Good Samaritan, 26, faces paralysis after she was pistol whipped and sexually assaulted by man who she gave a lift to hospital

  • Katie Schlinger, 26, says she offered to give Michael Antwon Fuller, 23, a ride to the hospital
  • She claims he then attacked and sexually assaulted her, but she was able to escape
  • Fuller was arrested and has been charged
  • Ms Schlinger is still being treated for her injuries and may never be able to walk again
  • She is also uninsured and has already racked up one $250,000 hospital bill
By Ashley Collman 5 January 2014
dailymail.co.uk

A 26-year-old Florida woman may never walk again after her kind gesture to offer a stranger a ride to the hospital turned into a nightmare attack that has ruined her life.

Tallahassee-resident Katie Schlinger told her traumatic story to MailOnline, revealing details about the night she offered to drive a stranger to the hospital before 'he physically and sexually attacked her'.

Ms Schlinger says she fought back and escaped with her life, but two spinal surgeries later, she still can't use her right arm or walk on her own. And since she's uninsured, she already owes one hospital $250,000 and is about to be kicked out of a third.

Survivor: 26-year-old Katie Schlinger survived a horrific attack late last month when she offered to drive a stranger to the hospital

It all goes back to December 20 when Ms Schlinger was in Aiken, South Carolina, to support her brother as he underwent open heart surgery at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Arrested: 23-year-old Michael Antwon Fuller is currently facing charges in Schlinger's attack. He was found semi-conscious in her car with a pistol

She was smoking a cigarette in the car at the nearby Quality Inn around 4am when she was approached by 23-year-old Michael Antwon Fuller who asked her for a cigarette and the two started talking about their relatives in the hospital.

Fuller told her he was worried about his uncle at the hospital and wondered if she wouldn’t mind driving him up there so he could see him.

‘Yeah I’ll give you a ride if you promise not to hurt me,’ she joked, agreeing to drive him since the hospital was only four minutes away and Fuller was clean cut, well-spoken and well dressed.

‘Who could hurt that precious face?’ Ms Schlinger recalls him responding.

As they drove up to the hospital, Ms Schlinger began to turn into the main entrance but Fuller told her it was a different entrance. The second entrance was the emergency entrance and he told her not to turn there either, she told MailOnline.

From there the road went pitch black and when Ms Schlinger turned to tell him she didn’t think there was another entrance, he allegedly hit her face with the mouth of his gun.

Ms Schlinger says she started to cry and begged him to take her car or her money, but she says he told her to just keep driving and hit her on the head with his pistol.

She agreed and started driving but slowly moved her hand to the door handle. She hit the gas right before she opened the door and hurled herself out of the moving vehicle.

By the time she stopped rolling and got up, Fuller had somehow put the car in park and caught up with her, she said.

Outside of the car, she says he pointed his gun at her and forced her to perform oral sex.

‘I kept begging him not to rape me,’ she said. Hoping to save herself, she offered to drive him to an ATM and give him all the money in her bank account.

Totaled: Schlinger tried to escape by reversing her Dodge Durango towards the emergency hospital area. It hit a tree and the crash caused Fuller to pass out

‘I lied and told him I had thousands of dollars in my bank account. I didn’t have thousands of dollars,’ she said.

‘I knew if I kept driving I was going to die, so I put the car in reverse and aimed for the emergency hospital area.’

According to Ms Schlinger, Fuller tried to stop her, continuing to hit her on the head with his pistol before moving over onto her lap to try to control the car.

The two were fighting over the wheel and the car propelled into a tree, totalling the $8,000 Dodge Durango she just paid off.

Even though the crash happened right in front of the hospital, no one seemed to notice the crash so when she came to, Schlinger was still alone in the car with Fuller – trapped underneath him from their struggle.

The bill: Since the attack, uninsured Schlinger has been treated at three hospitals and already racked up a $250,000 bill already

She says it took nearly half an hour to move his weight off her without waking him. She decided it was safer to climb out the window than open the door which she thought would wake him up as well.
After falling out of the car she crawled to a bush to hide, and eventually a car went by that brought her to the hospital.

Survivor: Friends of the 26-year-old are currently raising money online for cover some of her medical bills

While Schlinger was being treated at the hospital, police arrived on the scene and found Fuller still in the car, semi-conscious with the pistol.

Fuller was arrested and is facing charges of kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a weapon with the commission of a crime.

Ms Schlinger, who is still recovering from the accident at a rehabilitation center, describes the experience as horrific and says she still continually wakes up with night terrors.

'It's been awful. It's been the most painful, traumatic experience of my life. The man ruined my life,' she said.

But it was just the beginning of the nightmare. Doctors treated Ms Schlinger at Aiken before transferring her to MCG Health Systems in Augusta, Georgia where she underwent two spinal surgeries.

At first, doctors said she would never be able to walk again and though there’s now hope that she’ll regain some of that movement, at the very least she’ll have to carry a cane for the rest of her life.

Because she is uninsured, she was dismissed from the second hospital but her victim advocate was able to secure her transfer to a $2,000 a day rehab facility for a free 10 day stay which she started on Friday.

Schlinger says she was told she needs at least four months of rehab to regain skills like writing again, but has to do as much as she can with the 10 days she has.

‘I can’t write, I can’t dress myself, I can’t do anything, I can’t brush my teeth by myself, I have to relearn,’ she said. It also doesn't help that she won't soon be able to go back to her job at a storage facility, since she can't type or move.

She hasn’t gotten the bill from the Aiken hospital yet, but the total for MCG is already 250,000.

Friends and family have started an online campaign to raise $100,000 to cover some of her medical bills. As of early Sunday, they had raised over $9,000 of that goal.

Another strange Obama admininstration arms purchase

....................................................................................
American Thinker ^ | Feb. 11, 2014 | Lee DeCovnick

On July 29, 2013, the Department of the Army in a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation, Solicitation Number W15QKN13T8513, asked the General Services Administration to procure "592,825 (approx) AK Rifle Magazines: 7.62x39mm Caliber, New Production, Steel, 30 Round Capacity". That many magazines would require 17.8 million rounds just fill each magazine once. What nation or even what moderate Syrian rebel group needs that kind of firepower? That request is far beyond what is needed by any nation that issues AK's to its soldiers except Russia and China. Of course, the US armed forces do not use AK rifles as standard issue.

US armed forces stationed in Jordan are currently supplying Syrian rebels with small arms, like the AK. However, could this Administration be planning to supply over half a million AK magazines to the moderate rebels, most of which will probably end up in the hands of the al-Qaeda or even the Assad regime? No. Realistically only 50,000 magazines would end up being delivered to "our" rebels in an entire year.

From Reuters we read:

...officials who support providing U.S. arms to the rebels acknowledge that this [weapons deliveries] has not greatly increased U.S. expectations of victory by anti-Assad forces, whether moderate or militant.

"The Syrian war is a stalemate. The rebels lack the organization and weapons to defeat Assad; the regime lacks the loyal manpower to suppress the rebellion. Both sides' external allies... are ready to supply enough money and arms to fuel the stalemate for the foreseeable future," said Bruce Riedel, a former senior CIA analyst and sometime foreign policy adviser to President Barack Obama.

So the question remains, what the heck does Obama plan to do with half a million AK magazines? Walk them to Mexico, like the rifles in Fast and Furious? Auction them on eBay? Sell them to Cuba and Venezuela for cigars and heating oil?

Or maybe Obama plans to use them in arming his Civilian National Security Force? Nah, that's just wacky right wing, conspiracy nonsense.

Just like GSA Solicitation Number W15QKN13T8513.
