We used to just have millionaires, Dave. Being a millionaire was considered "rich".

What's happening in this country, is that we're becoming like a third world country. Our middle class is disappearing, our poorer class is expanding as middle class people drop into it, and our uber-wealthy class is getting more and more of the national pie. That's not hard to understand. You can see this clearly HERE:

So, as this clearly shows, it's NOT "like it's always been". When America and it's middle class was strongest (1950-1980), income was shared more equally, and the top 1% raked in about 15% less of the GDP than they do now.

The change started with Reaganomics, and has just gotten worse since.
