That and of course there is the fact that probably almost everyone thinks they can work at Walmart, while most people going to college don't think there is a chance that Harvard might accept them. Its not that its really harder to get in to Walmart than Harvard, but still with so many people applying for each job (both in absolute terms and relative to other entry level jobs) would indicate that the job doesn't suck quite so much (for entry level workers, it would obviously suck for someone capable of and used to more) as its often presented as being. (At least it has more opportunity for advancement than most entry level jobs.)
