That's a sad article to read. Being originally from Texas, which once was a very (D) state, . . .

when was Texas a (D) state?... when Lincoln was potus and Ds were social conservative??... the Ds were the social conservative party in the South were they not? and the repubs were the liberal/progressives... so labeling D or R is meaningless depending on what time frame we are talking about... that's why some social conservatives today like to claim MLK was a republican just because his father was, during a time when Dems were the racists
