Third-Party Application Vendors to Leverage Oracle's New Web Deployed Application Suite to Reach More Enterprise Users
Oracle(R) Cooperative Applications Initiative(SM) (CAI) Members Integrate Best-in-Class Vertical and Horizontal Applications to Reduce Cost and Complexity of Corporate Computing
Developer/2000(TM) Server Allows Existing Applications to be Quickly and Easily Web Deployed, Preserves Development Investments
INTERNET WORLD, NEW YORK, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- At Internet World today, Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL - news), the leading provider of software that allows business to move to the Web, today announced that members of its Cooperative Applications Initiative(SM) (CAI) are integrating their best-in-class products with Oracle(R) Applications Release 10.7 NCA, the first suite of 100 percent Web-deployed enterprise applications, also announced today. This third-party product integration is expected to provide customers with a comprehensive set of Web-enabled software solutions that complement Oracle's Java-based applications by addressing specific business requirements.
The nearly two hundred Oracle CAI members are leading providers of vertical and horizontal third-party software that have tightly integrated their products with Oracle Applications. With the support of Oracle Applications Release 10.7 NCA, these vendors are working with Oracle to provide Web-enabled enterprise applications that have all the benefits of graphical, client/server software without the cost and complexity of installing and maintaining client software on each user's desktop.
''By integrating our manufacturing planning software with Oracle's Web-enabled applications, customers can access our Enterprise Manufacturing Data Management solution from any desktop device with Java,'' said Dr. Anthony Cailwik, president of CAI member CIMx Corporation. CIMx provides Oracle customers with enterprise-wide process planning, work instructions, tool management, quality characteristic accountability, and integrable PDM/ERP/MES environments.
''Web-enabled application solutions allow customers with hundreds or thousands of users to reduce the traditionally high cost and complexity of implementing, maintaining and upgrading enterprise applications,'' said Marc Hebert, vice president of Oracle's Design and Migration Services. ''Because CAI member product integration is engineered according to Oracle standards, applications already integrated with Oracle Applications Release 10.7 work tightly with the new Oracle Web-deployed Applications.''
Many CAI members are using the Oracle Developer/2000 Server, also announced today, to deploy their existing applications on the Web with no additional development effort. Developer/2000 Server provides a single, prepackaged solution for deploying software applications on scalable application servers that can be accessed from network computers, PCs or Java-based thin clients. The bundle includes the Oracle Web Application Server 3.0 deployment platform and a robust Developer/2000(TM) Server cartridge for hosting any existing or new application created with Oracle's Developer/2000 development toolset.
''Using Oracle's Developer/2000 Server, we were able to move our entire client/server suite to Network Computing Architecture(TM) without changing a single line of code,'' said Michael Ellis, president of CAI member Prism Computer Corporation. Prism provides customers with a solution for managing and maintaining physical assets. Their FAMIS product suite integrates with Oracle Financials(R) to address the specific needs of organizations responsible for managing and maintaining buildings, manufacturing plants and equipment.
''Deploying our applications via the Web allows total access and total visibility across the enterprise while enabling customers to shift the complexity of administering software from the desktop to professionally managed networks,'' said Patrick Thean, president of CAI member Metasys Inc. With its flagship product MetaFreight, Metasys provides Oracle customers with enterprise-wide shipment planning and execution, daily operations management, and analysis and decision support.
About Cooperative Applications Initiative and Oracle Corporation
