LSI Logic Deploys Interra's MProbe Tool Worldwide to Support Integra Set-Top Box Development; Local MPEG Debugging Support Accelerates Design Turnaround
WESTERN CABLE BOOTH No. 1011 (Arena)
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1997--Interra, Inc. today announced that LSI Logic has chosen the company's MProbe(TM) analysis tool to support Integra(TM) set-top box development.
LSI has deployed MProbe in all field design centers to assist its customers in debugging hardware designs and software applications to ensure video/audio stream compliance with both MPEG1 and MPEG2 standards. MProbe enables LSI field application engineers to accurately identify "known good" MPEG data streams, and to quickly resolve problems with set-top box system designs that include MPEG encoding and decoding functions.
"We are pleased that LSI has adopted MProbe in its design centers around the world," said Ajoy Bose, president of Interra. "MProbe allows LSI to provide rapid response to customers' MPEG design issues in the field, rather than having to send data back to company headquarters for analysis. This saves valuable time and effort for both LSI and its customers."
"Our FAEs are an integral part of the system development team," said Mark O'Brien, director of marketing for STB products. "Equipping them with MProbe is consistent with our philosophy of increasing the value we can offer to our partners' development teams. MProbe gives them the portability to solve system problems right at the customer site allowing the products to move to production sooner."
About Interra's MProbe
MProbe provides developers of MPEG cores, integrated circuits (ICs), electronic systems and software applications with comprehensive design analysis and standard compliance capabilities to improve productivity and time-to-market. Using MProbe, encoder-decoder development groups can analyze timing as well as encoder output and decoder input. Field and engineering support groups can perform regression testing for quality assurance of codecs, problem identification in MPEG streams, and compliance within multivendor streams. MProbe runs on the PC platform under the Windows 95(R) and Windows NT(R) operating systems. It offers users an easy-to-use, GUI with three operating modes for quick navigation through the stream hierarchy.
Interra will demonstrate MProbe in the LSI Logic booth No. 1011 (Arena) at the Western Cable Show in Anaheim, CA, December 10-12, 1997.
