<<<<< It's not demographics that is the problem >>>>>

Of course it's demographics John. What the demographics deniers ignore is that we are living much longer! That compounds the issue. So it is baby boomers bubble AND living longer. Once you make it to retirement age your life expectancy goes up. Couple with that of course is the increase cost of medical care. AND until we have some numbers behind us to claim Obamacare reduces cost - that just remains a dream.

So over a million have signed up for Obamacare. How many of those are getting government subsidies because of preexisting conditions or low wages?

Well, you did but I've got far more important things to do this morning than chase down that quote from our rather lengthy back and forths. It's enough for you to admit that such a statement, were you to have made it, would be wrong. That will do.
I don't know what you are referring to here. You won't provide the words that establish that position on my part and to me you are trying put me into a position I never established. I have repeatedly said that your proposition that there is broad universal support for the Medicare/Medicaid/SSI programs has never been put to the "opt out" test by letting people get required withholding back in their pay checks.

I am not saying you are wrong, Just that we don't know--never having tested it.

As to the pols--i answered that. They are playing to the Senior citizen influence in money and votes. I think you are right about the pols but can't infer that the non-senior US population is there in the "broad' support category.

I'm going need more time to get back to you about Bowles and the proposals of his commission. I need to check on some things there. I do think you raised some important points about his proposals.
