good analysis .. thanks!
I just have a few things to say:
1 - a job at McDonalds should not produce a "living wage" . . . it should be a stepping stone to a better job
2 - a 16% rise in the cost of food is not trivial .. first McDonalds, then Outback, then the Grocery store then Walmart . . . 16% OUT of everyone's pocket for just about everything . . . to give a 100% INCREASE to some.
3 - this is called redistribution . . . what is a college education worth then? Why should I try so hard to make $30/hr at NASA when I can make $15/hr at McDonald's?

"Are shareholders willing to give up a few cents in profits so we don't have to?"

That's what needs to happen. I doubt the greedy will give up a penny. So, they need to be TAXED on for those few cents, with the money going to benefit the poorest, and especially the working poor.

It they won't share the national pie, they need to be MADE to share the national pie.
