I think the supporters of getting rid of SS and Medicare, all Republicans, will hold their tongues until the boomer generation has been swallowed and excreted by the Anaconda of time. They saw how popular any tinkering with that was when Bush tried to scare America into privatizing it. 10,000 boomers apply for SS every day. We all vote, and we vote for our economic and social benefit. Even confused conservative Republican seniors say ridiculous things like "Keep your damn government hands off my SS and Medicare!" Nothing will happen to those programs, except sounder funding. Even Ronald Reagan, a recipient, was a fan: dailykos.com

And Happy New Year to you John! Here's hoping that together in the coming year we formulate a proposal to send on to Congress that they will immediately adopt--and which will have the effect of solving the entitlements problem (G). Reference funding SSI in the future I want to read up on Warren's proposal and see what she proposes there (what she says about funding) and think about the politics of raising the cap. Did you mean all the way (unlimited) when you said that--or since it's Krugman's idea maybe I should go the source on it. Give me a little time as I am playing with some of these concepts for the first time and my tax policy background is limited.
