If you are right, then BLDs current level are sustain by uninformed, not to say stupid, investors. Since Ballard itself sees no reason for the current high valuation, they are unlikely to support it by splitting the stock.

As an aside, splitting the stock does provide one rational advantage; it increases stock liquidity by reducing the cost of a standard block of 100 shares. It helps the small investor get in.

The most positive recent news was the 700K order for fuel cells for portables generators. This is evidence of progress in a well defined market niche. BLD has targeted several markets: portable generators, stationary generators, buses, cars, and specialized markets (submarines). Fuel cells for cars, which gets most of the attention, will, according to BLD, be the last to market.

It's not just the "uninformed" investors that are keen on Ballard these days. Duncan Stewart, portfolio manager of the recently launched Navigator Canadian Technology Fund, was quoted this week as saying that they believe Ballard "can be the Canadian Microsoft by being a company that changes the world". -John
