If you compare the history of the United States and the history of ancient Rome, the similarities are absolutely stunning... in ancient Rome, the government began an entitlement program, it eventually became unsustainable, and their taxes were even lower than ours is right now, their top tax bracket was 20%... Claudius ran for the Senate on the promise of free grain to everyone, free grain and free pork, a main staple in the Roman diet... naturally, everyone voted for him and that was the beginning of the decline of Rome... at first, there was a "means rule" that required the person to be poor, but Claudius eventually did away with that means rule and allowed anyone to take free grain and food stuffs, there were very long lines, he gave away the store and destroyed the economy, the economy of Rome quickly began to crumble... the barbarians only invaded after they saw Rome already crumbling from within... this is where we are right now, ovomit is giving away everything, free phones, free money to illegals, and so on... it will only be a matter of time before the barbarians invade us and finish us off... we can still turn it around, but we must act quickly and the ballot box is the only way it can be done effectively...
