The problem that needs to be addressed is that if one starts policy analysis with the present political configurations, you miss the openness of the future. By starting with better policy--medicare for all, let's say, rather than the ACA--one keeps the broader conversation open, keeping others aware of alternatives that get lost if we only accept the ACA as the best that can be done.

Same across the board. Neither one of us are making policy; we're simply not in a position to do so. But we are in a position to advocate better alternatives, as in medicare for everyone. And, in doing so, at least in my case, trying to pull the conversation to better futures.
