My thoughts. 7% for a year is not high enough to attract me. I often use puts to try to buy stock at a discount. If I really want the stock, I usually write current month, near the price. Jan 34's for 0.26 would give you 3/4% for 3 weeks. Feb 34's at 0.55 give a similar return. If it doesn't get assigned try again next month.

Mid term election years have a tendency to offer opportunities to buy stocks cheaper. You were the person who posted this chart:

In the experience of the past 62 years, markets are noticeably weaker during mid-term election years, especially NDX. Weak January, then a bounce up into mid - April, and then headwinds into October. We'll see. After the last couple of years it's hard to imagine having a significant bear trend, but the reality is that it's bound to happen. Sooner or later -g.
