>>>It'll take another couple of weeks for the rumour to really fade and even then it won't be forgotten. There's no reason to assume that a buyout should appear within 2 or 3 days of the appearance of the rumour.<<<

The problem I had with this particular rumor is that it has surfaced 3 times this year, this time being the 2rd time it's been raised from the dead. I understand that many may still be speculating on a LU buyout, however, I just find it very difficult to believe that the forces that have the power to move the stock, are giving it much attention. Most institutions invest based primarily on earnings factors, and other fundamentals -- that recent poll by ML emphasized this fact. Given the block trading on Thursday and Friday, it is also very clear that over $1.2 billion in traded stock with many, many blocks in excess of 20K could not be attributed to retail trading. Therefore, if institutions were accumulating in force, I have to believe it is due to ASND's improving fundamentals, and Q4 outlook following the DMG conference on Thursday -- not some old tired rumor hatched by the media about LU buying out ASND. That's why on Thursday after I caught up with the day's activity after over-sleeping ;o) , I mentioned that I thought ASND probably gained much of its initial momentum based on its own merits after the conference, rather than rumor. Of course, I acknowledged that the rumors surely helped fuel the rally in the latter stages.

So in saying that the rumor is dead, I meant among the institutions and other market movers. Just my perception.
