Respond to of 50183 Yes, and it's odd that N* would link to them. Does she think they're talking about SPD? Does she not realize that these technologies on the horizon represent the end of the line as far as SPD's usefulness when they eventually come to market? Is she just gloating that they're years away so that in theory REFR still has time to make some money? Does she think that Harary's patents will entitle REFR to siphon royalties off this tech as well? The only way that REFR will stay ahead of the curve (assume that they ever get out in front of the curve) is to pump more money into R&D. Which will negate investors ever getting their percentage of royalties from the royalty sucking/cash burnin...err...pumping machine that Uncle Joe has promised. I need to read a bit more on nanocrystals, but on the surface, the technology is much more interesting and practical than SPD. And it sounds like they aren't 48 years away from a commercial product. I mean, let's face it, the idea of aligning rod shaped particles based on electrical charge in a semi-solid substrate is as old as iron particles in lava aligning along earth's magnetic field. That's not just ancient, it's downright pre-cambrian. And with REFR's increased popularity, more people will be aware of these competing technologies and will have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor. Daimler Benz is already looking at nanocrystalline technology for other parts of the vehicle.technicity.daimler.com How long before the new Mercedes Nano concept car is released. Nanocrystal cellulose in the main vehicle construction along with nanocrystal smart glass technology for the windows, mirrors, sunroofs. On a side note, the Boeing has incorporated smart glass technology in their 787 Dreamliner. They are using Gentex smart glass products.en.wikipedia.org Gentex has been around since 1974. The big difference between Gentex and REFR is that they started making money back in the 70s and even introduced smart glass products back in the 80s. On a "not so surprising" note, in 1994, REFR decided to do dueling press releases with Gentex when Gentex released a PR about their dimmable windows. Unfortunately, we don't know what it says...link broken.smartglass.com GNTX has one hell of a healthy chart. finance.yahoo.com And the financials? WOW!!! market cap of $4.67B, EPS of $1.34/share, PE of 24.10...and get this....they pay a dividend. And the stock price...the low was $18 just about a year ago. The high was Dec 17...$34.15. It's pulled back to $32 and change, but the chart is still very much intact. This is the kind of stock that you want in your retirement portfolio. This is the kind of company that you want to go to when incorporating a new technology into your product. I might actually buy me some of this stock!
